Job description

Estimator / Account Manager – Residential Construction

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Estimator / Account Manager to join our Phoenix-area team. This role combines residential construction estimating, customer relationship management, and business development support.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with residential builders and be comfortable reading construction plans, performing takeoffs, calculating material and labor costs, preparing estimates, and working directly with customers.

Stair experience is preferred, but candidates with backgrounds in cabinets, flooring, millwork, trim, doors, finished carpentry, building materials, or residential construction are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review construction plans, drawings, specifications, and builder requirements.
  • Perform material and quantity takeoffs and develop accurate estimates.
  • Calculate material, labor, installation, and project costs.
  • Prepare quotes, proposals, and pricing for customers.
  • Identify scope gaps, discrepancies, and potential cost issues.
  • Coordinate with operations, purchasing, production, and installation teams.
  • Manage project revisions and update estimates as needed.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with home builders and construction customers.
  • Respond to customer questions regarding pricing, scope, materials, and scheduling.
  • Support new business development and identify opportunities with existing and prospective builders.
  • Participate in customer meetings, builder visits, and presentations.

Qualifications

  • Our client is looking for someone with 3+ years of estimating experience in residential construction, building products, or a related trade.
  • Experience working with home builders strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Experience with takeoffs, estimating, and material/labor pricing.
  • Strong attention to detail and mathematical/analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer relationship skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Estimating or takeoff software experience is a plus.

Ideal Background

Candidates with experience in stairs, finished carpentry, cabinets, flooring, millwork, trim/doors, building materials, residential subcontracting, or general construction are encouraged to apply.
