Job description

Role: Chief Estimator
Location: Norfolk, MA

The Chief Estimator will lead the bid evaluation and estimating process, including resource planning, risk assessment, bid scheduling, estimate reviews, design-build procurements, joint-venture pursuits, vendor relationships, and bid-day activities. This position works closely with operations, project management, business development, and executive leadership to ensure accurate, competitive, and profitable project estimates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all estimating and preconstruction activities for heavy civil and bridge construction projects.
  • Evaluate bid opportunities, project risks, and resource availability.
  • Oversee large-scale estimates, bid reviews, bid-day submissions, and post-bid documentation.
  • Manage design-build and joint-venture procurement efforts.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with owners, clients, consultants, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop estimating staff while driving continuous process improvement.
  • Collaborate with operations and project management teams during project handoff and post-award activities.

Requirements:

  • 15+ years of Heavy Civil and Bridge Construction experience.
  • Prior experience as Chief Estimator, Director of Estimating, Lead Estimator, or Senior Estimator.
  • Proven success managing large, complex infrastructure estimates exceeding $50M.
  • Strong knowledge of public sector and transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with Design-Build delivery methods and Joint Venture pursuits preferred.
  • Proficiency with HCSS, B2W, Microsoft Project, and/or Primavera P6.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and team development skills.
