Job description

Wander is revolutionizing the $100B+ short‑term rental industry. We curate every aspect of the guest experience—from our smart homes to our intuitive booking platform. Our mission is to help people find their happy place, and our vision is to create the infrastructure for people to experience the world.

Backed by top‑tier investors and led by experienced startup veterans, we're a tight‑knit, remote‑first team united by our passion for travel, technology, and creating unforgettable experiences.

San Francisco or Austin · Engineering · Full-time

About Wander

Wander is building the infrastructure to experience the world. WanderOS is our "Shopify for hospitality": the platform property managers use to run direct‑booking sites, sync inventory from their PMS, take payments, and manage guests. It is the fastest‑growing part of Wander and the system every other product now runs on.

The role

You will own backend services at the core of WanderOS: PMS integrations and sync, availability and pricing pipelines, booking and payments, and the APIs that power host dashboards and every direct‑booking site we deploy. This is high‑leverage, high‑ownership work. Bugs here mean a host loses a booking, so correctness and observability matter as much as speed.

What you'll do
  • Design and ship TypeScript services and APIs that handle bookings, quotes, availability, payouts, and site provisioning
  • Build and harden PMS integrations (Guesty, Hostaway, OwnerRez, Lodgify, Streamline, Track, Escapia, and more), including webhooks, rate‑limit handling, and reconciliation
  • Scale ingestion and sync pipelines that process hundreds of thousands of availability records per hour without drift or double‑bookings
  • Model data in Postgres with Prisma; use Redis, Kafka, and Temporal for queues, caching, and durable workflows
  • Own reliability end to end: alerting, tracing, runbooks, and on‑call for the services you ship
  • Work directly with hosts, ops, and sales to turn real customer pain into shipped fixes, often the same week
  • Use AI tooling aggressively in your workflow, and write code and tests that hold up when a large share of the codebase is AI-assisted
What we're looking for
  • 4+ years building production backend systems, with deep Node.js and TypeScript experience
  • Strong relational data modeling and SQL (Postgres preferred), plus ORM experience such as Prisma
  • Experience with third‑party API integrations at scale: pagination, rate limits, retries, idempotency, eventual consistency
  • Comfort with async/event-driven architecture (queues, streams, workflow engines)
  • A product mindset. You care about the host and guest outcome, not just the ticket
  • Thrives async and remote, with written communication to match. We do not do meetings
Why Wander

Small, senior, team with real ownership and no meeting culture. Competitive salary plus meaningful equity, 100% covered medical/dental/vision, 401(k), and stays at Wander homes.
