Job Title: Epic Hospital Billing (HB) Consultant – Certified Hospital Billing & Hospital Billing Charge RouterPosition Overview

We are seeking an experienced Epic Hospital Billing (HB) Consultant with active Epic certifications in Hospital Billing (HB) and Hospital Billing Charge Router to support ongoing operational and project-based initiatives. This consultant will be responsible for providing production support, ticket resolution, system maintenance, upgrade support, and optimization activities within the Epic Hospital Billing application.

The ideal candidate will possess strong Epic build and troubleshooting experience, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with operational, clinical, and technical stakeholders to enhance revenue cycle workflows and system performance.


Key ResponsibilitiesProduction Support & Ticket Resolution
  • Provide day-to-day support for Epic Hospital Billing and HB Charge applications.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve application issues submitted through ticketing systems.
  • Prioritize and manage support tickets according to established service-level agreements (SLAs).
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement sustainable solutions for recurring issues.
  • Collaborate with Revenue Cycle, IT, and operational teams to ensure timely resolution of incidents and service requests.
Application Maintenance
  • Perform routine Epic HB and HB Charge maintenance activities.
  • Maintain system configurations and workflows in accordance with organizational standards and Epic best practices.
  • Develop, test, and implement application updates and configuration changes.
  • Document build, workflows, testing results, and support procedures.
Epic Upgrades
  • Support Epic upgrade planning, testing, validation, and implementation activities.
  • Review release notes and assess impacts to Hospital Billing and HB Charge workflows.
  • Execute upgrade-related testing and coordinate issue resolution.
  • Ensure system functionality and operational readiness following Epic upgrades.
Optimization & Enhancement Work
  • Partner with revenue cycle leadership and end users to identify opportunities for workflow improvements.
  • Analyze existing system configurations and recommend optimization strategies.
  • Design, build, test, and deploy enhancements that improve billing efficiency, charge capture, reimbursement, and user experience.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across Hospital Billing operations.

Required Qualifications
  • Active Epic certification in:
    • Epic Hospital Billing (HB)
    • Epic HB Charge
  • Minimum 3+ years of Epic Hospital Billing experience.
  • Experience supporting Epic production environments, including ticket management and issue resolution.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare revenue cycle processes, hospital billing operations, and charge capture workflows.
  • Experience with Epic build, testing, troubleshooting, and workflow analysis.
  • Knowledge of Epic upgrade methodologies and testing practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Epic implementations, upgrades, and optimization projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working directly with revenue cycle stakeholders.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90.00 - $90.00/hr.
