Job Summary

The Epic HIM Analyst is responsible for the design, build, support, and optimization of Epic Health Information Management applications. This role ensures regulatory compliance, supports the integrity of the legal medical record, and collaborates with clinical and operational stakeholders to improve workflow efficiency and data quality.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Design, configure, and maintain Epic HIM applications including chart tracking, ROI, coding, deficiency tracking, and document imaging; Analyze requirements and develop system solutions; Support system upgrades, releases, and implementations; Maintain HIM configurations and compliance workflows; Troubleshoot issues including chart errors, identity merges, deficiencies, and workflow problems; Utilize Epic tools for issue resolution and collaborate with technical support; Monitor and maintain documentation integrity and medical record completeness; Support work queues related to HIM functions; Collaborate with clinical, operational, and IT teams; Participate in system governance, workgroups, and projects; Develop and execute testing strategies; Maintain documentation including workflows, build specifications, and change logs; Support training initiatives and provide go-live support; Communicate system changes and updates; Provide end-user support as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, IT, business, HIM, or related field or equivalent experience; 1–3 years of EHR experience; Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Epic HIM certification or ability to obtain within 6 months; Familiarity with clinical operations, HIM workflows, and regulatory requirements.

Skills & Competencies

Ability to translate operational needs into technical solutions; Proficiency with Microsoft Office products; Strong attention to detail; Ability to work independently and collaboratively; Ability to handle sensitive information; Strong time management skills; Analytical and problem-solving abilities; Strong communication and teamwork; Knowledge of Epic tools such as Hyperspace, Reporting Workbench, and SmartForms preferred; Understanding of HIM operations and compliance standards.

Working Conditions

Standard office or hybrid environment; Occasional after-hours or on-call support for upgrades, go-lives, and downtime events.
