Epic Business Analyst

 (Hybrid, On-site, Local)

Select Medical is seeking an Epic Business Analyst to join our team. The Business Analyst will work hand in hand with application coordinators and act as the primary support contact for Epic software. Epic is one of the largest providers of health information technology used to access, organize, store and share patient medical records. The Business Analyst will be responsible for in-depth analysis of workflows, data collection, report details and other technical issues associated with Epic software. In addition, they will be responsible for coordinating all issues that arise with Epic, analyzing business operations and implementing requested changes to the system.

Business Analysts gain in-depth knowledge of Epic software by attending training at Epic's headquarters in Wisconsin and completing certification projects and tests.

  • Acting as the primary support contact for the application.
  • Coordinating all issues that arise in their application area.
  • Understanding the choices involved in application configuration.
  • Performing in-depth analysis of workflows, data collection, report details, and other technical issues associated with Epic software.
  • Investigate end users' preference while making build decisions.
  • Analyzing business operations as they relate to build decisions.
  • Prioritizing and implementing requested changes to the system.
  • Analyzing new functionality in releases to determine how it should be used.
  • Populating databases during the initial system build with assistance from Epic.
  • Coordinating software updates and changes.
  • Reviewing and testing each new release.
  • Collecting information regarding potential system enhancement needs.
  • Preparing details of specifications as needed.
  • Analyzing data conversion needs.
  • Ensuring that data coming across an interface into an Epic application meets the business need.
  • Serving as a liaison between end users, third parties, and Epic implementation staff.
  • Troubleshooting problems and questions from end users.

Required: 

  • BS or BA in information systems, business administration, health care or related field or equivalent education and experience
  • 1+ year of experience in Business Analysis and customer service skills
  • Analytical thinking 
  • Proven ability to learn custom applications
  • Candidate must take EPIC sphinx* (Select will administer)

Preferred:

  • Some clinical or EMR (Electronic Medical Records) experience
  • Able to independently manage and prioritize workload and expectations
  • Ability to collaborate with team and business operators
  • Ability to overcome initial barriers
  • Ability to effectively multi-task and adapt to changing business priorities
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate changes made to EPIC
  • Superior teamwork, time management and organizational skills
