Job description

Tharros is seeking a Cybersecurity Analyst to support a Department of Defense customer with foundational cybersecurity, vulnerability management, and compliance activities. Working under the guidance of senior cybersecurity professionals, this entry-level role will assist with vulnerability scanning using DoD-approved tools such as ACAS, application of DISA STIGs and SRGs, and documentation and tracking of identified security findings.


The ideal candidate has foundational knowledge of cybersecurity principles, vulnerability management, RMF, and DoD security compliance, with an interest in developing hands-on experience within a mission-focused environment. This individual will support the preparation and maintenance of RMF/eMASS artifacts, POA&Ms, vulnerability scan results, and compliance documentation while gaining exposure to the broader DoD cybersecurity lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • The Associate Cybersecurity Analyst provides entry-level support to the cybersecurity team under the direct supervision of senior engineers. This role is focused on learning foundational cybersecurity processes and assisting with routine compliance and documentation tasks. Duties include:
  • Assists in the preparation and execution of vulnerability scans using DoD-approved tools (e.g., ACAS); helps document and track scan results
  • Supports the application of DISA STIGs and SRGs by helping to run compliance checks and documenting identified deviations for review by senior staff
  • Assists in the creation, organization, and uploading of RMF artifacts into the Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS) under direct supervision
  • Helps track and update Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&M) entries based on guidance from senior engineers
