Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Operating Room position at an acute care facility in Shreveport, LA, requiring at least 1 year of Ortho & Spine OR experience and the ability to work independently from day one.

Details
  • Acute care hospital setting in a physician-owned OR department with 8 surgical suites averaging 25 cases per day
  • Common case types include Makoplasty total joints (hips & knees), Stryker and Arthrex shoulder/ankle/hand procedures, podiatry, ALIFs, ACDFs, arthroscopies, 360 fusions (scoliosis), spinal cord tumors, microdiscs, sports medicine, and pain management
  • 1 RN and 1 OR tech are assigned per room; a surgical rep is present for implant cases
  • Charge nurse serves as a board runner, handling assignments and acting as a resource as needed
  • Day shift: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
  • 8-hour shifts; 13-week contract
  • Weeknight call: 16 hours first call, 4 hours second call; call response time is 30–60 minutes
  • Weekend call averages 1 weekend every 8 weeks; holiday rotation includes call only
  • Floating to other units is not required
  • EMR: CPSI
Requirements
  • Active Louisiana RN license or a Compact RN license currently in hand
  • Current AHA certifications: BLS and ACLS
  • Minimum 1 year of Ortho & Spine OR experience required
  • Must be able to function confidently and independently in the OR from day one
  • Candidate must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for this position
Additional Information
  • RN scrubbing is not required for this role
  • Turnover times are fast-paced: 15 minutes standard, 30 minutes for robotics cases; all staff assist with room turnover including cleaning and table setup
  • Orientation is 2–3 days
  • Hospital-provided scrubs are supplied to all OR staff
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • The facility has an established history of working with travel staff and is described as having a friendly, team-oriented culture with strong surgeon support
