Leidos is seeking a motivated and intellectually curious Entry-Level Chinese open-source intelligence (OSINT) Analyst to join the Halogen team under the Insight contract. This position supports research and analysis focused on Chinese military modernization, defense industry developments, emerging technologies, and related national security topics. The selected candidate will conduct open-source research using Chinese- and English-language sources and produce structured analytical reports in response to customer-driven Requests for Information (RFIs). Products may range from quick-turn short-form analytical responses to longer research reports. Offers 100% telework/remote.
This position is ideal for early-career professionals eager to build expertise in open-source intelligence (OSINT), Chinese military affairs, defense technology, and strategic analysis.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Conduct open-source research using primarily Chinese- and English-language sources
  • Identify, evaluate, and analyze information from academic journals, government documents, corporate records, media reporting, technical publications, online databases, and social media platforms
  • Produce written analytical products in a professional intelligence report format
  • Translate and summarize Chinese-language material relevant to customer requirements
  • Analyze data and synthesize key findings into clear, concise written assessments
  • Respond to RFIs and recurring analytical tasking
  • Maintain research organization, source documentation, and analytical accuracy
  • Collaborate with senior analysts and project leadership on ongoing research efforts
  • Monitor developments in PRC military modernization, defense industry activity, aerospace systems, emerging technologies, and military-civil fusion initiatives

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university and 0-2 years of experience.
  • Strong understanding of PRC history, economics, and CCP politics
  • Proficiency in reading and analyzing Chinese-language sources
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • Demonstrated research, analytical, and writing skills
  • Ability to organize complex information into structured written products
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Strong analytical writing and editing skills
  • Ability to synthesize technical and non-technical information
  • Intellectual curiosity and willingness to learn complex subject matter
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Professional communication and collaboration skills
  • Familiarity with academic research databases
  • U.S. Citizenship

Preferred Qualifications
  • Academic background in international relations, political science, security studies, Chinese studies, history, engineering, or related fields
  • Experience conducting open-source research and analysis
  • Familiarity with OSINT methodologies and analytical writing
  • Understanding of PRC military organizations, the defense industry, or emerging technologies
  • Experience using Chinese academic databases, technical journals, or state media research sources
  • Prior military, intelligence, or defense-related experience
  • Internship experience or coursework involving analytical writing or China-related research
  • Proficient score on a Chinese language test (HSK 6, DLPT 3/3, TOCFL Level 6, ACFTL Advanced Mid, etc. or above)
  • Familiarity with key U.S. institutions engaged in research on the PLA and PRC
