Job description

The Intermediate Care Area (ICA) is a 36-bed inpatient unit. ICA is focused on providing extraordinary care for patients whose illness severity may not warrant an Intensive Care Unit setting, but who are not stable enough to be treated in the Medical Surgical Units.  The level of care provided is as a Progressive Care Unit or Step-down level of care. ICA is a unit who achieved gold-level Beacon Award for Excellence from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN).   The award honors excellence in Progressive Care nursing and is regarded as the top honor in the field. Currently, the ICA is the only Progressive Care unit in Illinois — and one of only seven in the country — to have earned the gold award.

Position Summary: 
The registered nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patients' status, plan of care, and goal achievement.  Care is provided in a compassionate, professional, ethical, and knowledgeable fashion based on the Caring Model, exemplifies the mission, vision and values of Rush Copley, and is in accordance with policies and procedures. The registered nurse is expected to uphold the most ethical and safe processes while keeping the care of the patient as a top priority. The position works closely with the entire multidisciplinary team and must have a complete understanding of own limitations and, in turn, seek advice, judgment and support of others, when necessary.
Position Requirements: 
Current IL RN Licensure and CPR required. ACLS required in all Critical Care/ER areas. Minimum of 1 year of hospital experience required. BSN degree, if not already obtained, required within 5 years of hire.
