Job description

  • POSITION PURPOSE
    • Acts as a receptionist and performs general clerical duties in assigned area. Prepares, updates and maintains patient charts. Transcribes physician orders. Assists with processing admissions, transfers and discharge papers for patients. Schedules treatments and tests. Maintains needed supplies.
  • MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED
    • High School plus specialized training (6 mons-2 yrs)
  • MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
    • Entry Level
  • LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
    • Completion of Health Unit Coordinator program is preferred.
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED
    • Proficiency in use of personal computers.
    • Medical terminology knowledge.
  • PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
    • Serves as a resource for physicians, staff, patients and visitors regarding hospital activities and policies.
    • Prepares, updates and maintains patient charts.
    • Knowledge of how to locate, enter or correct orders or other information in Sunrise.
    • Ensures that the complete charts are sent to the appropriate areas for transfers and discharges.
    • Assists in the orientations and training of new staff and student clinical rotations as requested.
