Job description

Retroflex has become a well-known and trusted brand in the flexographic printing and gravure coating industries worldwide. With a total commitment to parts and service support for every customer, our reputation remains as solid as the equipment we build. Our Mechanical Engineer designs machines and their various components up to mechanical standards for Retroflex equipment.ย  The equipment to include but not limited to, custom designed and standard flexographic and gravure printers and coaters, unwinds and rewinds.

Job duties:
  • Design and detail custom and standard converting equipment with primary focus to be (but not limited to) the flexographic and gravure industries.ย  This includes printing and coating machinery as well as ancillary equipment such as enclosed reverse angle doctor blade systems, unwinds, rewinds, chill sections, dryers, accumulators, and tension systems.
  • Modify drawings by analyzing, resolving, and incorporating changes.
  • Oversee product development from design to implementation, monitoring status of all assignments and reporting to ownership.
  • Conduct analysis and simulations to ensure product performance and reliability.
  • Support testing and validation of mechanical designs.
  • Produce specifications for products and choose necessary raw materials and components to be used in production.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to source components that meet design specifications and quality standards.
  • Support Sales and Customer Service and Field Service needs.
  • Be proficient with computer programs such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Word, Excel, Macola, Synergy and others as required.
  • Perform administration services including submittal reviews, punch list inspections, and project closeout.
  • Create support materials such as engineering books and review technical manuals prior to release.
  • Travel may be required from time to time, to perform on site analysis as well as measuring equipment and assisting with start-up and training.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • B.S. in engineering required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in the printing and coating industry.
  • Experience in design, repair and analysis of mechanical systems.
  • *Experience in flexographic printing preferred.
