Full-Time Physical Therapist - Pelvic Health Opportunity!

Summary:

The incumbent should be a pelvic health specialist that is able to assess, diagnose, and treat conditions related to the abdominopelvic region. Must be comfortable tailoring treatment plans to individual needs specific to the pelvic floor region and is able to provide strategies and education to manage symptoms and improve function. Position requires proof of completion of any entry level pelvic floor course.

Under the general supervision of the rehab manager or supervisor, performs therapy examinations, develops treatment plans and goals, and applies interventions in accordance with the Standards of Practice of the profession, applicable state licensure regulations, and hospital policies and procedures to a variety of patients ranging from newborn to geriatric in age, in an outpatient care setting. Opportunity for rotation to acute care sites may exist per operational need.

Responsibilities:

1. Performs therapy examinations, develops treatment plans, and establishes treatment goals with patient input utilizing evidence based practice and APTA recommendations to guide care. 2. Provides care to special populations including: Oncology, Lymphedema, Amputee, Spinal Cord Injury, Stroke, Total Joint Replacement, Orthopedic and Neurologic 3. Delegates and supervises patient related tasks to assistants, aides, and support personnel. Supervises students as assigned. 4. Collaborates with other disciplines to provide coordinated interdisciplinary patient care. 5. Manages time effectively and demonstrates willingness to work a variety of scheduling patterns within individual control hours. 6. Makes independent decisions within the scope of defined job description, level of knowledge, skills and abilities but seeks guidance as necessary for performance of duties. 7. Meets or exceeds productivity and documentation requirements. 8. Accepts and utilizes feedback in a constructive manner and demonstrates respect for others in open and constructive communications. 9. Accepts other duties as assigned. Adheres to all department and hospital policies 10. Demonstrates flexibility and willingness of a task change and engages in new programming 11. Participates as assigned in department quality improvement programs 12. Assists with prioritization of patient care 13. Contributes to peer review as required 14. Supports excellence of the organization and customer satisfaction

Other Information:

Experience delivering comprehensive care in an outpatient setting to patients with physical dysfunction secondary to disability, disease, or injury in accordance with professional standards of practice. Experience with diagnoses including low complex medical patients, orthopedic, oncology, and neurological patients.

Credentials: Current license to practice in Connecticut: Successful completion of minimum educational requirements for licensure including all clinical practice and comprehensive examinations. Temporary licensure may be considered at the discretion of the department manager.

CPR/AED certified

Education: Doctorate (Professional)
