Situated on oceanfront Collins Avenue in the heart of Millionaire's Row, Fontainebleau Miami Beach is one of the most historically and architecturally significant hotels on Miami Beach. Opened in 1954 and designed by Morris Lapidus, it was the most luxurious hotel on Miami Beach, and is thought to be the most significant building of Lapidus' career.


Responsible to monitor, repair, and perform preventive maintenance program on all the hotel's kitchen equipment.
 
Examples of Duties, includes but is not limited to the following:
  1. Assist in start-up, shut down, and operation of all kitchen and refrigeration equipment.
  2. Perform scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance on all kitchen equipment.
  3. Identify and troubleshoot problems and make repairs accordingly.
  4. Shut off steam, water, and gas supplies.
  5. Perform appropriate plumbing requirements for kitchen equipment repairs as needed.
  6. Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. 
  • Knowledge of Kitchen HVAC systems to perform basic electric and plumbing repair and maintenance. 
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards for chemical use. 
  • Skill in the use of hand and power tools. 
  • Ability to perform basic/intermediate math skills. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with guest, management, and staff. 
  • Ability to understand commands, questions, and instructions from supervisor and co-workers. 
  • Knowledge, understanding, and compliance of policies and procedures, job descriptions, daily memorandums, chemical labels, and other instructions.
  • High school education or equivalent.  Trade apprenticeship preferred.
  • From entry-level to two years experience as a kitchen mechanic at a complex facility preferred.
  • Technical school certificate or trade license preferred.
