Power Services Construction Coordinator - Customer Solutions Operations

Description

This position will be filled at an Exempt Level 4 or 5 depending on the successful candidate's skills and experience.  This position will be primarily responsible for managing construction of customer-owned distribution, substation, low voltage, and generator projects.  The position also takes part in an on-call rotation which responds to emergency needs and outages among Customer Solutions' Total Maintenance and Repair (TMR) customer group as well as other potential TMR customers.

Customer Solutions - Power Services is an unregulated business within Georgia Power company.  Customer Solutions offers a unique, exciting, and growing business environment while still being part of Georgia Power.  This position will work with a team that focuses on constructing and maintaining customer-owned distribution, substation, and standby generator systems. Flexible work hours (4-10's) are available.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Schedule & manage new business, system improvement, and maintenance projects on customer-owned facilities statewide 
  • Ensure contractors work safely & efficiently & project construction is on schedule & within budget
  • Verify quality of work & provide performance feedback to contractor workforce
  • Review & approve final invoicing from contractors
  • Coordinate timely delivery & ensure all materials are properly accounted for during construction & upon job completion
  • Provide field and construction support to team as required to meet customer needs and expectations
  • Work to build and strengthen relationships with external customers and local GPC HQ's, TMC's, and Key Account/Sales personnel
  • Complete required annual inspections (visual & infrared) for customer-owned distribution & substation facilities covered by Utility Services Total Maintenance & Repair (TMR) Agreements and develop formal written reports including infrared pictures for presentation to customers
  • Work closely with Project Managers & Engineering to promote sales & address design & maintenance issues

Relocation benefits are not available with this position.  A company truck will be provided for statewide travel.

This position has been identified as a role that will require the use of a Georgia Power fleet vehicle.  The following will be required if you are selected for this position:

  • Must have at least one year of verifiable driving experience (Must hold a valid driver's license for the class vehicle to be operated. Driving permits are not typically considered a valid driver's license). 
  • Must have no revocation of driving privileges within the 36 months prior to application, no convictions of major traffic violations (DUI, hit and run, reckless driving, etc.) within the 12 months prior to application, or any pending charges for a major traffic violation at the time of application.
  • Must consent to a continuous monitoring of your Motor Vehicle Record 

Job Requirements

Education:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.

Experience:

  • Minimum of seven (7) years Transmission, Distribution, and/or Substation Construction/Maintenance experience is required
  • Construction leadership experience is strongly preferred
  • Proven record of safe work behaviors
  • Proven ability to communicate directly and effectively with customers.
  • Working knowledge of practices, techniques, & equipment used in Substation/Distribution construction & maintenance
  • Working knowledge of distribution & substation outage evaluation and restoration procedures
  • Effective interpersonal & written communication skills
  • Ability to make sound decisions & solve problems
  • Ability to read, comprehend, interpret, & communicate construction plans & specifications
  • Ability to build & maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to handle multiple projects in various locations
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, TEAMS)
  • Available for frequent travel & after-hours, weekend, & holiday work
