Introducing a PAID job skills training opportunity provided by
Georgia Power Company
Lithonia, GA 30038
Georgia Power Company and BLOC Resources have partnered to offer the Lineworker Entry Program (LEP) to all interested job seekers, including those in the early stages of their careers. The LEP acts as a structured career pathway, providing aspiring lineworkers with essential introductory job skills training to help them enter the electric utility industry.
The LEP caters to the growing need for individuals prepared to embark on careers in the electric utility sector.
Program Details
  • Length: 6-week program
  • Schedule: 4 days a week, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM
  • Pay rate: $21/hour

Participants in the LEP will receive training in both classroom and field settings, focusing on essential lineworker skills in the following areas:
  • Safety Protocols
  • Technical Skills Training
  • Field Exercises
  • Career Development

2026 Class Dates
  • May 4 - June 19
  • July 6 - August 21
  • August 24 - October 9

Requirements
Educational Background: High School Diploma or GED
Testing: Ability to successfully pass the Construction and Skilled Trade Selection (CAST) test
Licensing: Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) permit
Must not have had their driving license or privileges revoked within the past two years
Physical Fitness: Maintain a weight under 270 lbs. (Due to equipment constraints) and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
Comfort with Heights: Comfortable working at heights between 30-75 ft

Safety-First Mindset: Always aware of potential risks and prioritize safety

Additional Experience Preferred Not Required:
CDL Driving: Previous experience with CDL driving
Skilled Labor Experience: Proficiency in areas such as tree trimming, pipe fitting, plumbing, HVAC, masonry, mechanics, heavy equipment operation, roofing, etc.
