Job description

Quality Engineering Solutions, Inc. (QES) is seeking a Transportation Assistant to join our team. Responsibilities and Duties:
• Assist inspection teams with performing technical entry-level inspections to ensure that contractors build a quality construction project.
• Assist in monitoring and documenting that roadway, highway, and bridge projects are constructed in accordance with the pertinent plans and specifications.
• Support quality assurance monitoring for materials testing under the guidance of senior inspection staff.
• Comply with PennDOT and/or Client and project-specific overtime requirements.
• Meet with the Clients Project Engineer/ Manager/ Supervisor or Consultant Manager/ Supervisor daily, or as required, to receive instructions and assignments.
• Assist with completing project documentation requirements, including daily progress reports, material records, and equipment tracking.
• Perform periodic entry-level compliance checks as assigned by the supervisor.
• Request from Manager/Supervisor assistance for any instruction or assignment in the inspection of materials and workmanship to ensure compliance with contract requirements and established standards.
Required Qualifications:
• 1 year minimum of experience as a Technical Assistant 1 (TA-1) AND successful completion of the twelve (12) web-based TCI training modules.
• OR 1 year minimum of transportation industry experience in highway/bridge design or construction inspection AND a High School Diploma, GED, or post-secondary education AND the ability to read, write, and communicate in English and perform basic math computations for length, area, and volume AND successful completion of the twelve (12) web-based TCI training modules.
• OR 2 years minimum of non-transportation related design, construction, or construction inspection experience AND a High School Diploma, GED, or post-secondary education AND the ability to read, write, and communicate in English and perform basic math computations for length, area, and volume AND successful completion of the twelve (12) web-based TCI training modules.
• OR Minimum of an Associate’s of Science degree in Engineering or a closely related field AND successful completion of the twelve (12) web-based TCI training modules.
