Job Description

Travel expectations for this position are estimated at 90% - 100% and will require visiting different projects across multiple states. Some work may occur over weekends. Regular travel home is planned for and included based on actual project coverage needs. All travel costs are paid for by Olsson.

Olsson is seeking a full-time Construction Manager located in the Houston, TX area. As a Construction Manager, you will be responsible for understanding third-party plan submittals, observing and documenting construction activities for compliance with railroad guidelines and approved submittals, managing the day-to-day correspondence with railroad clients in the field, and initiating actions needed to keep third-party contractors aligned with railroad safety and quality requirements.

The ideal candidate will possess the ability to coordinate effectively with both internal and external railroad stakeholders, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration. They should have a strong interest in construction processes and operations, demonstrating a keen understanding of the intricacies involved. Additionally, possessing experience in railroad construction or a background in railroad construction management is crucial for success in this role

  • Proficiency in GCOR (General Code of Operating Rules)
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate potential coordination challenges between railroads and their contractors, along with a proactive approach to effectively mitigate these issues
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule
