What is an entry level engineering rotational program?

An Entry Level Engineering Rotational Program is a structured initiative offered by companies to recent engineering graduates. Participants rotate through different departments or roles within the organization, gaining hands-on experience in various engineering disciplines. The goal is to provide a broad understanding of the company’s operations, help identify individual strengths and interests, and develop key professional skills. Typically lasting one to two years, these programs often lead to a permanent placement in a specific department upon completion.

What can I expect from the team structure and mentorship in an entry level engineering rotational program?

In an Entry Level Engineering Rotational Program, you'll typically work within several different teams across multiple departments, allowing you to gain exposure to various engineering disciplines and business functions. Each rotation usually pairs you with a mentor or supervisor who will guide you through your responsibilities, provide feedback, and help you set professional goals. This supportive structure is designed to help you build a strong professional network, develop a broad skill set, and identify areas of interest for your long-term career. Regular team meetings, collaborative projects, and networking events are common, fostering both technical and interpersonal growth.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in an entry level engineering rotational program, and why are they important?

To thrive in an Entry Level Engineering Rotational Program, you generally need a bachelor's degree in engineering, strong analytical skills, and a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals. Familiarity with industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and project management tools, as well as any relevant internship experience, is often beneficial. Strong communication, adaptability, and a willingness to learn help you stand out as you collaborate across different teams and projects. These skills and qualities are vital for adapting quickly, gaining broad experience, and laying a strong foundation for a successful engineering career.

What is the difference between Entry Level Engineering Rotational Program vs Entry Level Mechanical Engineer?

ADVANCE YOUR CAREER. ADVANCE THE WORLD.

At AMD, we believe technology can change lives for the better. It can heal us, entertain us, and make us more connected, productive, and understanding of the world around us. And we’re looking for talent who feel the same: people who want to leave the planet better than they found it, those who don’t shy away from humanity’s challenges but are determined to help solve them.

AMD is powering the next generation of supercomputing, high-performance computing, cloud, and AI. Whether you’re designing next-gen processors, enabling AI breakthroughs, or creating go-to-market plans, every role at AMD contributes to something bigger — technology that moves the world forward.

THE ROLE:

Are you passionate about technology, problem-solving, and making a real-world impact? Join our Field Applications Engineer Rotational Program, a comprehensive 18-month journey designed to develop the next generation of Field Applications Engineers specializing in FPGA technologies. This program provides immersive experiences across multiple disciplines, empowering you with the technical expertise and business acumen to thrive in a dynamic, customer-facing role.

THE PERSON:

We are looking for passionate, tech-savvy, and driven recent graduates or entry-level engineering professionals that want to learn and apply their technical degrees in a dynamic job.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a participant in this program, you will:

  • Rotate through 3-4 departments, gaining hands-on experience in areas such as:
    • FPGA architecture and design.
    • Pre-sales engineering and technical marketing.
    • Customer support and application debugging.
    • Training development and delivery for customers and internal teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve real-world problems using FPGA-based solutions.
  • Engage directly with customers to identify their challenges, propose solutions, and support implementation.
  • Gain in-depth knowledge of FPGA hardware, software tools, and design methodologies.
  • Develop and present technical demos, proofs-of-concept, and training materials.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Understanding of digital design, FPGA architectures, and hardware decription language (VHDL/Verilog)
    • Familiarity with FPGA development tools (e.g., Vivado, Quartus)
    • Knowledge of embedded systems, signal processing, or high-speed interfaces is a plus
    • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent communication and presentation abilities
    • Strong interpersonal skills and a customer-first mindset
    • Eagerness to learn, adapt, and tackle challenges in diverse environments
    • Passion for solving challenging customer problems and sharing solutions to your peers
  • Other Requirements:
    • Willingness to travel as needed for customer interactions or training

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
