Job description

Overview

Entry level Electronic Medical Record (EMR) document indexing position.   EMR Indexers must accurately and productively review, scan or upload and index clinical and related patient documents into patient electronic charts.  Hybrid position once candidate reaches required accuracy and productivity levels. 

Responsibilities

EMR Indexers are primarily responsible for reviewing, correctly indexing and subsequently uploading incoming hardcopy and/or faxed patient reports and information into patient charts.  Candidates must be familiar with medical record content and able to accurately and productively identify prep, scan and electronically index documents for uploading into the EMR.   Primary focus is reviewing and uploading incoming faxed documents for FirstHealth Clinics.   However, candidate also provides back-up coverage for onsite prepping, scanning and indexing.

Qualifications

Education and/or Training 

High School Diploma required. Associate's Degree in Health Information Technology (HIT), or related business or healthcare field of study preferred.   

Work Experience:(Minimum One Year Work Experience) 

Computer experience required, must include use of word processing, Windows, and various data entry and/or document management related functions.  Experience in health information management, medical office or similar document management and/or office experience with emphasis on data entry and data integrity.  HIT or relevant degree may be considered in lieu of experience.
