Both roles require strong analytical skills and insurance knowledge but differ in their focus within the insurance process.

Will AI replace underwriting?

AI is increasingly used to assist disability underwriters by automating data analysis and risk assessment, improving efficiency and consistency. However, human underwriters still play a crucial role in interpreting complex cases, making judgment calls, and ensuring compliance, so AI is more of a tool than a complete replacement in the underwriting process.

What company hires the most people with disabilities?

Many large insurance and financial services companies, including those that employ disability underwriters, have initiatives to hire individuals with disabilities. Companies such as The Hartford, MetLife, and Prudential are known for inclusive hiring practices and may employ significant numbers of people with disabilities in roles like underwriting and claims processing.

Can I get into underwriting with no experience?

Entry level disability underwriters can often start with little to no prior experience, as employers may provide on-the-job training and look for strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Relevant certifications or coursework in insurance or risk assessment can improve chances, but many employers hire candidates with a willingness to learn and basic qualifications. Experience requirements vary by company, but entry-level roles typically focus on potential and foundational skills.

What jobs make 5000 a week without a degree?

Entry level disability underwriters typically do not earn $5,000 a week; however, high-paying roles such as sales managers, real estate brokers, or certain skilled trades can reach or exceed this income level without a college degree, often requiring experience, certifications, or specialized skills. These jobs may involve commission, bonuses, or performance-based pay and often demand strong communication, negotiation, or technical skills.
