Role Summary:

The Consultant supports public sector advisory engagements for state and local government and public sector entities. This entry-level role focuses on executing project tasks, conducting analysis, and developing technical and professional skills while contributing to high-quality client service across internal audit and management consulting engagements.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the delivery of public sector advisory engagements under the direction of senior team members.
  • Perform data analysis, testing, documentation, interviews, and walkthroughs to support audit and consulting objectives.
  • Prepare workpapers, sections of reports, and client-ready deliverables in accordance with MGO standards.
  • Track tasks, timelines, and deliverables to support on-time, on-budget project completion.

Advisory Exposure:

  • Support internal and performance audits, business process and internal control assessments, and operational or efficiency studies.
  • Develop a foundational understanding of public sector operations, governance structures, and regulatory requirements.

Team & Professional Development:

  • Collaborate effectively with consultants, senior consultants, and managers.
  • Receive coaching and feedback to build technical, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Support proposal development, research, and internal initiatives as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Public Administration, Public Policy, or related field (Master's a plus).
  • 0-2 years of experience (internship or relevant professional experience preferred).
  • Interest in public sector consulting or government advisory work.
  • Willingness to obtain a professional certification such as (CPA, CIA, CFE, PMP, CISA, or similar).
  • Strong analytical, writing, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to travel up to 5-25%.

Compensation: $70,000 - $90,000 base salary per year.
