Job description

JOB SUMMARY
New Valley is seeking a talented, ambitious professional willing and able to contribute to the success of our new bank. Under the direction of the VP Credit Officer, the Credit Analyst will work collaboratively to support the loan origination and ongoing monitoring initiatives of the Lending Department.
This is an entry-level client relationship management position. Qualified candidates will have seasoned credit underwriting background with a proven ability to evaluate and determine the credit risks of commercial clients and appropriate structure of loan requests through detailed financial statement analysis, industry assessment, collateral valuation, cash flow analysis and the ability to repay annual debt service.
ESSENTIAL KEY FUNCTIONS

  • Works with Loan Officer on New Loan requests including but not limited to an initial financial analysis and obtaining a complete financial package to prepare, summarize, presents facts, and offers opinions concerning credit worthiness of commercial customers; reviews and analyzes criteria to assign an overall risk to credit. Develops credit analyses for use by lending officers or committees in the making of lending decisions on new credit approvals and renewals
  • Essential Functions Coordinate with Loan Officers to assist in collection of financial information from portfolio customers.
  • Analyzes and reviews data on new loans as well as portfolio loans, reviews for signs of credit issues
  • Monitors annual review/renewal process including file comments and loan presentations for assigned credit requests.
  • Maintains and tracks, and reports on Banks policy exceptions.
  • Assists in timely complete of Annual Reviews throughout the portfolio, including working with Loan Servicing to update existing NOIs, and DSCR upon review.
  • Communicates with customers to request and track the receipt of required financial information to be completed in tandem with Lenders, Portfolio Managers and Credit Analysts balanced with prioritizing new money transactions.
  • Submits appraisal order requests and bids. Submits Flood Determination requests and follows through with proper procedures when property is located in a flood zone.
  • Orders environmental reports and submits to Loan Officer for review. Completes compliance review including but not limited to, CRA, Government Monitoring, and Joint Credit.
  • Assist in taking Directors Loan Committee meeting minutes.
  • Must complete BSA, AML, and other regulatory and continuing education as assigned. Must adhere to all bank and regulatory policies and procedures specific to position. Position Qualifications Assumes additional responsibilities as requested.
  • Monitors and tracks for financial statements received from existing borrowers, and scans or saves electronically to files with appropriate naming conventions.
  • Adheres to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with regulatory standards and policies
  • Maintains New Valley control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Completes other related duties as assigned including customer onboarding and systems related maintenance. Additional tasks include reporting to the Federal Reserve via the Main Street Lending platform program.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in commercial credit or public accounting, preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred

Skills and Experience
  • Strong knowledge commercial loan documentation; working knowledge of banking laws and regulations, relating to the documentation and servicing of loans
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication, and computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent customer service skills with a high degree of professionalism and positive demeanor
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize a multitude of assignments
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
