Are you ready to launch your engineering career in the fast-growing electric utility industry? Weโ€™re looking for a motivated SCADA / RTU Engineer to join our Trussville, Alabama team. Youโ€™ll play a vital role in supporting remote terminal units (RTUs) that connect substation equipment to utility SCADA systems โ€” helping keep the lights on for thousands of homes and businesses every day.

This position is ideal for entry-level to experienced engineers who enjoy hands-on problem solving, system integration, and seeing projects through from concept to commissioning. Youโ€™ll work closely with customers, field technicians, and project managers while building your technical knowledge and leadership skills.

What Youโ€™ll Do

  • Configure, test, and troubleshoot RTU-based control systems for electric utility substations.
  • Work with SCADA communication protocols including DNP3, Modbus, and IEC 61850.
  • Interpret and review engineering drawing packages such as one-lines, three-lines, wiring diagrams, and elementary schematics.
  • Use industry-leading RTU configuration tools (e.g., SEL, GE) to support installation, setup, and maintenance.
  • Diagnose issues in electrical circuits, communication networks, and control logic.
  • Collaborate with teams in the field and office to deliver quality results on schedule.
  • Provide mentoring and technical support to junior staff and technicians.
  • Demonstrate initiative, organization, and independent decision-making every step of the way.

What You Bring

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Electrical, Computer, or Systems Engineering (or similar technical discipline).
  • Understanding of electrical drawings, control circuits, and substation systems.
  • Familiarity with RTU and SCADA software tools โ€” experience with SEL and GE is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation skills, and a passion for troubleshooting.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
