Bishop & Company is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Manager for  a locally owned company serving Hawaii for over 75 years. This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected organization known for exceptional service, quality, and innovation in the community.

About the Role
The Accounts Payable Manager will oversee the full AP function, ensuring accurate, timely, and efficient processing in a high-volume environment. This role will lead and develop staff, strengthen internal controls, and partner cross-functionally to support financial operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage end-to-end accounts payable operations, including invoices, payments, and reconciliations
  • Supervise and mentor AP staff and outsourced support partners
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing in compliance with U.S. GAAP and company policies
  • Improve AP processes, internal controls, and workflow efficiency
  • Review and resolve vendor inquiries and discrepancies
  • Monitor AP aging, accruals, and monthly/quarterly close activities
  • Prepare reports, reconciliations, and audit/tax documentation support
  • Maintain documentation and records retention practices
  • Collaborate with internal departments on approvals, disputes, and process improvements
  • Support system implementations and payment platform updates as needed
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2+ years of experience managing AP functions and staff
  • Experience in a high-volume, fast-paced AP environment
  • Strong knowledge of AP processes, controls, and financial reporting
  • Advanced organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Great Plains experience a plus)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to manage competing priorities
