Position Summary: 
The Accountant I is an entry-level accounting position responsible for supporting the daily accounting operations of Blake’s Lotaburger. This role assists with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, reconciliations, documentation, and month-end close activities. 
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, eager to learn, and able to support multiple areas of accounting rather than being limited to one function. This position reports directly to the Financial Controller. 
 
Primary Responsibilities:
·         Must exemplify Blake’s Lotaburgers Core Values of Kind, Team, Passion, Process in all responsibilities and interactions 
·         Assist with processing invoices, vendor payments, expense documentation, and account coding. 
·         Support accounts receivable functions, including daily sales validation, cash activity, deposits, chargebacks, refunds, and related documentation. 
·         Process Payroll and support payroll accounting, including payroll journal entries, payroll reconciliations, benefit-related entries, and discrepancy research. 
·         Prepare basic journal entries and supporting documentation under supervision. 
·         Assist with balance sheet reconciliations and ensure assigned accounts are completed timely and accurately. 
·         Maintain organized accounting records, files, and audit-ready documentation. 
·         Research and resolve routine invoice, payment, cash, payroll, or account discrepancies. 
·         Support month-end close by gathering documentation, preparing schedules, and completing assigned tasks. 
·         Serve as a support link between field operations and the corporate office for accounting questions, documentation requests, and transaction research. 
·         Assist with internal controls by following accounting policies, approval procedures, and documentation standards. 
·         Crosstrain in multiple accounting areas, including AP, AR, payroll accounting, reconciliations, and general ledger support. 
·         Assist with other projects, tasks, and duties as assigned. 
Qualifications/Requirements (Education/Training/Experience/Abilities): 
·         Education or work experience in accounting, finance, bookkeeping, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or a related field preferred. 
·         Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate financial records. 
·         Basic understanding of accounting principles preferred. 
·         Ability to learn multiple accounting functions and adapt in a fast-paced environment. 
·         Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
·         Ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative accounting team environment. 
·         Positive, team-oriented attitude with a willingness to learn and improve processes. 
·         Proven experience in the restaurant or retail industry is a plus. 
·         Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. 
·         Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. 
·         Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, including a motor vehicle record search.  
Essential Physical/Emotional Requirements: 
·         Must be able to occasionally stand/walk for extended periods of time 
·         Must be able to sit for extended periods of time 
·         Must be able to talk and hear 
·         Must be able to climb, bend and stoop 
·         Must be able to lift/move up to 25 pounds unassisted 
·         Must be able to type and look at a computer screen for extended periods of time 
·         Must be able to tolerate a reasonable amount of stress. Ability to multitask and work under stressful conditions in a quick service restaurant environment  
·         Must be able to handle difficult and/or sensitive situations using tactful, appropriate, and effective communication
