This position will be open to internal and external candidates and will close on Wednesday, June 10th, 2026. 

The Accountant I position pays between $55,520.00 and $69,400.00 and the Accountant II position pays between $64,400.00 and $80,500.00. Compensation is based on skills, experience and education of the successful candidate.

In this role, you will be responsible for performing accounting and financial reporting functions, including, but not limited to, account reconciliations, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, audit support, account analysis, and special projects as needed, among other duties. Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries.
  • Reconcile and maintain general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare reports filed with regulatory agencies.
  • Contribute to department month-end close responsibilities, including assisting with financial statement preparation.
  • Prepare account and variance analyses and research account variances.
  • Assist with the preparation of budget and forecasts and support peer review activities.
  • Support ad hoc reporting and departmental projects.
  • Assist with the preparation of data requests.

Accountant II: Entry Level Duties Plus Additional Responsibilities

Successful Candidate Must Have

  • Bachelor's in Accounting, Business Administration or related financial discipline.
  • A valid driver's license and meet the acceptable driving record requirements of NMGC.
  • Accountant II: Three (3) years of direct work experience performing the duties and responsibilities of this or similar position. One year of experience may be considered with a Master's degree in related discipline.

Preferred: Accounting or accounting concentration degree. Familiarity with accounting systems such as SAP, PowerPlan, Quorum, Banner, Oracle, or related software.
