Job description

The Account Specialist performs the essential functions of the position, which include aiding Account Advisors and Client Executives with service needs and making changes to existing accounts. Specific service and marketing responsibilities are learned in this position. May be assigned special projects as needed from time to time.

This position will serve as the first point of contact for our organization and is responsible for creating a welcoming and efficient front office experience while supporting daily administrative operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, approachable, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Capable of setting priorities while keeping multiple plates spinning, working in a fast-paced environment, and coordinating with a team to achieve goals. Strong ability to communicate professionally and effectively with clients, co-workers and other business contacts.

At all times, this role is responsible for adherence to the stated expectations of Sentinel’s Errors and Omissions Management Program.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide technical support to Account Advisor(s) in servicing client needs.
  • Complete applications in coordination with Account Advisor(s); Assists Account Advisor in submittal of applications to eligible and appropriate carriers and follows up to ensure timely receipt of quotations and policies.
  • Complete renewal reviews for upcoming renewal accounts in accordance with Sentinel’s timelines and procedures. Coordinate with the Account Advisor and the Client Executive as necessary to discuss coverages and needed changes.
  • Prepare master certificates and other related items; verify for accuracy; forward to holders and client with appropriate correspondence at the direction of the Account Advisor.
  • Prepare summaries of insurance, schedules and proposals as needed.
  • Process renewals in coordination with Account Advisor(s) according to agency procedures.
  • Review audits of policies; verifies accuracy and facilitates corrections when necessary, including invoicing and delivering to the insured.
  • Processes incoming mail, phone and email requests, responding promptly and appropriately in accordance with Sentinel service standards.
  • Process billings; follow up on cancellations requests to carriers to ensure accurate and timely resolution; maintains agency in financial equity whenever possible.
  • Prepare premium allocations, manual invoices, and premium finance agreements for clients as needed.
  • Review and maintain suspense daily to adhere to Sentinel’s standard operating procedures.
  • Other servicerelated items as they arise especially for training purposes to further agency or insurance knowledge.
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Property & Casualty Insurance License, or the ability to obtain within the first 6 months of employment.
  • Ability to analyze complex insurance situations, needs and options and communicate these options both verbally and in writing in a clear, concise manner.
  • Ability to understand written and oral communication and interpret abstract information.
  • Ability to carry out complex tasks with many concrete and abstract variables.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with tools such as Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to manage complex projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently of Account Manager and take the lead on specific elements of client servicing when necessary.
