McKoy Worob Averill Scott & Koenig LLP is a New York City based boutique law firm that focuses its practice in transactional music business law. The firm currently represents Grammy award winning recording recording artists and producers, Tony Award-winning lyricists, Fortune 500 companies, and independent record labels. We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our team. Candidates should be interested in transactional law and the music industry and looking to gain hands-on experience in a setting more intimate than the traditional law firm.
Position Overview
This is a great opportunity for someone interested in Entertainment Law and/or the Music Industry. The Legal Assistant will provide administrative and legal support to two senior partners and their teams. In this position, you will gain exposure to the inner workings of the music industry through direct access to negotiations of high-profile recording agreements, music publishing agreements, and production/artist agreements. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, professional, and eager to learn.
Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to attorneys and legal staff.
  • Prepare, format, proofread, and organize legal and business documents.
  • Maintain and update client files and document management systems.
  • Assist with contract review, organization, and tracking.
  • Coordinate meetings, calls, and calendars for attorneys.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence via email.
  • Conduct basic legal research as assigned.
  • Handle billing/invoicing and assist with administrative projects.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Strong academic record and interest in law, entertainment, or the music business.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of AI tools such as Claud, ChatGPT
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Professional demeanor and discretion when handling confidential information.
  • Experience in a law firm, entertainment company, talent agency, management company, or professional office is a plus but not required.
