Job description

ECPI University is seeking Mechanical Engineering Technology and Civil Engineering Technology Instructors to teach undergraduate students in a hands-on, career-focused environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for engineering professionals looking to transition into education-no prior teaching experience required. We provide comprehensive training, mentoring, and ongoing faculty support to help you succeed.
Classes are delivered in 5-week accelerated terms with small class sizes, allowing for personalized instruction. Evening and weekend availability is required to support our adult learners.
Key Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate Mechanical or Civil Engineering Technology courses
  • Deliver engaging, hands-on instruction aligned with industry practices
  • Support student learning in a fast-paced, 5-week course format
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and academic support to students
  • Troubleshoot basic technical/software issues for students as needed
  • Participate in scheduled live sessions and office hours (online faculty)

Qualifications
Education
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field
    OR
  • Master's degree with 18+ graduate semester hours in the discipline
  • Ph.D. preferred

Experience
  • Minimum 1+ year of relevant industry experience required (7+ years preferred)
  • Industry experience must be within the past 5 years
  • Teaching, training, or mentoring experience is a plus

Technical Skills
Required:
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, or other 3D design software

Mechanical Engineering Technology (Preferred):
  • Machine Tool Technology
  • CNC G-Code programming
  • CAD/CAM software

Civil Engineering Technology (Required):
  • Geomatics & Surveying
  • Fluid Science

Additional Areas of Interest:
  • Drafting & Modeling
  • Engineering Mechanics
  • Manufacturing & Machining
  • Machine Design & FEA
  • Thermal & Fluid Sciences

Mechatronics Candidates:
  • Background in control systems, instrumentation, and mechanical systems

  • Windows-based computer and webcam (must meet ECPI requirements)
  • Ability to teach one live session and hold weekly virtual office hours via Zoom
