Support Engineering Technical Manager (Support Engineering Tech Mgmt)

The Senior Training Device Manager will lead the Simulator Operations team responsible for Miami Campus Flight Simulator Training Device (FSTD) operations, maintenance, repair, updates, and regulatory compliance. They will have responsibility to lead managers and individual contributors in a 24/7 operation, maintaining a safety-first culture, while championing quality and service for Boeing's training customers. The role requires extensive collaboration with campus stakeholders, engineering teams, flight training, suppliers, and Boeing's global training network to ensure customer training delivery and business goals and objectives are met.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Manages managers and individual contributors to ensure 24/7 simulator readiness for customers, while prioritizing safety, quality, and regulatory compliance of training devices.
  • Provides strategic direction for FSTD lifecycle support and team workforce planning.
  • Provides oversight in areas of simulator hardware, software, operation, and maintenance to ensure seamless operations.
  • Responsible for overall implementation and compliance to Quality Management System.
  • Partners with business leadership to manage business plan forecasting, budgets, and strategy.
  • Maintains close relationships and collaboration with peer managers and stakeholders across Boeing's global simulator operations network to drive synergies and standardization.
  • Leads Sim Ops customer engagement and coordinates high profile engineering enterprise activities at the Miami Campus including simulator and airplane certification activities.
  • Develops, motivates, and coaches team in technical and professional activities to maintain high morale, an inclusive culture, and a robust talent pipeline.
  • Lives and promotes the Boeing Values of Safety & Quality, Trust, Ownership, People Focus, and Innovation.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • 10+ years of experience in any of the following areas: maintaining, updating, modifying, designing commercial or military aircraft flight simulation training devices, aircraft flight deck or aircraft avionics
  • 5+ years of experience leading teams in a formal and /or informal leadership role
  • Experience with commercial airplane certification and safety requirements and procedures.
  • Experience with team building, developing and motivating employees.
  • Able to work up to 10% shift hours (evenings or midnights) to connect with 24/7 shift operations.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Experience with FAA CFR 14 Part 60 and other global simulator regulatory qualification standards
  • Experience in maintaining CAE, CAE-TSP, Acron, and FlightSafety International Full Flight Simulators.
  • Experience with Boeing aircraft operation and/or maintenance.
  • Experience running a 24/7 operation.
