Job description

RFA Engineering (www.rfamec.com) is an engineering service provider dedicated to delivering our clients with timely engineering support and expertise. We are seeking an experienced candidate to become an integral part of our engineering team. The selected candidate will work with an experienced engineering staff using state-of-the-art engineering tools & processes. This position will operate onsite at our customer's world-class engineering and manufacturing facility.

Technical Writer
As a Technical Writer you will support the creation, maintenance, and improvement of technical documentation for complex equipment and systems. This role will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, service, and product support teams to develop clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation for operators, technicians, and customers.
Responsibilities
  • Create, edit, and maintain technical manuals, service guides, maintenance procedures, and product documentation.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and change documentation to develop clear operating and maintenance instructions.
  • Ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with applicable industry standards and company requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, service, and product support teams to gather technical information.
  • Support continuous improvement of documentation processes, tools, and delivery methods.
  • Maintain document revisions and updates as products and systems evolve.
  • Assist internal teams with technical communication and documentation best practices.
  • Support engineering change management activities and documentation updates.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, Engineering Technology, English, or a related field; equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • Experience creating technical documentation for industrial equipment, heavy equipment, manufacturing, or similar industries.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
  • Strong written communication, editing, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and technical publishing/document management tools.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS), ERP systems, and document control processes.
  • Familiarity with Teamcenter, Adobe Creative Suite, FrameMaker, or similar technical publishing software.
  • Understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Knowledge of engineering change processes and industry quality standards.
  • Experience developing service, maintenance, or operator documentation for complex equipment.
