What You'll Do:
The Superintendent, Production Engineering provides direct leadership and oversight to the production engineering team, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations at the Geismar site. Reporting to the Manager, Process Engineering, this role is accountable for directing technical resources in support of Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, and Capital Projects.
This is a high-impact leadership role for an experienced engineer who thrives on solving complex problems, driving continuous improvement, and building high-performing technical teams.
What you will do:
    • Promote and actively participate in site safety and environmental programs, modeling behaviors that build a strong, sustainable safety culture.
    • Champion process safety and ensure adherence to PHAs, MOCs, PSSRs, and engineering documentation requirements.
    • Provide technical expertise and guidance for PHA's, SIL determination, and resolution of corrective action items.
    • Lead, manage and support timely completion of Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and TapRoot investigation.
    • Set technical and operational priorities aligned with plant reliability, production goals, and long-term business strategy.
    • Translate organizational objectives into clear expectations and deliverables for the engineering team.
    • Provide confident, risk-aware communication to leadership, balancing clarity with appropriate uncertainty.
    • Coach engineers in troubleshooting, modeling, process safety, and critical decision-making.
    • Build technical depth through mentoring, training, and structured development planning.
    • Review and validate engineering analyses, recommendations, designs and technical documentation for rigor and accuracy.
    • Ensure process simulation models, performance evaluations, and engineering studies meet internal standards.
    • Maintain overall process design basis, including H&MBs, P&IDs, relief valve sizing, equipment documentation, reactivity matrices, and cause-and-effect logic.
    • Provide operational design limits and technical guidance to operations.
    • Ensure timely analysis of real-time and historical data to detect abnormalities and optimize equipment performance and manage operational risk
    • Promote innovation, challenge legacy practices, and encourage data-driven improvements.
    • Maintain awareness of industry advancements and foster networks with other nitrogen and chemical facilities.
    • Provide leadership and oversight for shutdown/turnaround activities, including catalyst change-outs, exchanger cleaning, and capital project execution.
    • Coordinate with project teams on brownfield expansions, equipment replacements, design improvements, and detailed engineering.

What You'll Bring:
  • BSc in Chemical Engineering
  • Post-graduate qualification in engineering, business or project management is an asset
  • Minimum 15+ years of industrial experience, including 5+ years supporting Ammonia, Urea, or Nitric Acid operations
  • Proven ability to lead teams, with least 3+ years managing direct reports
  • Strong proficiency with process modelling software
  • Deep understanding of process safety, including PHAs, MOCs, PSSRs, and SIS fundamentals
  • Financial and business acumen related to planning, resource allocation, budgeting, and evaluating cost-benefit tradeoffs
  • Working knowledge of industry standards and codes (RAGAGEP) and process equipment design
  • Experience with project management best practices, tools, and economic evaluations
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and drive continuous improvement
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and develop others
