We have a Process Automation Engineer position open in Calabasas, CA. This position is responsible for designs, implements, and maintains process automation solutions for pharmaceutical process applications utilizing Emerson DeltaV distributed control system (DCS).

Job Description This position is responsible for process automation engineering project requirements:

  • Designs, implements, and maintains process automation solutions for pharmaceutical process applications utilizing Emerson DeltaV distributed control system (DCS)
  • Familiar with ISA-88 Batch and collaborates with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate into technical specifications
  • Integrates Emerson DeltaV systems with various process equipment, instruments, and control devices to ensure seamless operation and data exchange
  • Develops custom control strategies, logic, and sequences using DeltaV programming languages (e.g., Function Block Diagrams, Sequential Function Charts) Configures communication protocols (e.g., OPC, Modbus) for interfacing with third-party devices and systems
  • Conducts thorough testing of Emerson DeltaV configurations to verify system performance, functionality, and compliance with user requirements and regulatory standards
  • Prepares and executes validation protocols, including IQ/OQ/PQ, and generates documentation in accordance with GMP guidelines.WME User
  • Provides technical support and troubleshooting assistance to resolve issues related to Emerson DeltaV systems, including alarms, deviations, and process disturbances
  • Understands aspects of deploying automation systems in IT-based environments. This consists of server/client virtualization, managed networks and cybersecurity, and domain authentication
  • May act as lead on some projects, interfacing directly with clients and provide guidance to junior level engineers
  • Ensures compliance with all regulations, codes, etc. as they apply to the contract and project
  • Up to 30% domestic travel as needed and customary for the occupation

Job Requirements

Education BS in Electrical or Chemical Engineering is preferred.
Experience 5-15 years in below areas is preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements governing pharmaceutical manufacturing (e.g., FDA, GMP, GAMP)
  • Proficiency in programming languages and tools used in Emerson DeltaV programming (e.g., DeltaV Function Blocks, Control Studio)
  • Familiarity with process instrumentation, control valves, and fieldbus communication protocols
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex automation issues
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Physical Demands of Position Seeing, color perception, hearing, listening, clear speech, dexterity in hands, driving, lifting, climbing, and ability to mount and dismount equipment, pushing, and pulling.

Working Conditions Standard office environment, onsite office environment, and diverse industrial environments. Frequent PC usage, copy machines, and phones.
