Job description

Join our team of leaders in electrical power system maintenance, repair, testing, engineering, & training. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Project Manager to work for our Phoenix, AZ field office. Shermco Industries is a founding member of NETA and has one of the largest field services divisions in the industry.

  • Engineering Managers oversee Engineering services including short circuit studies, Arc Flash Studies, technical drawings & documentation, settings implementation, power quality studies, power system studies, load flow studies, and relay modernization.
  • Position has roughly 70-80% billable target.
  • Provide engineering related design, analysis and studies for domestic or international projects.
  • Conduct short-circuit, protective device coordination and arc-flash studies.
  • Perform power factor analysis and correction, harmonic modeling and analysis, and grounding analysis.
  • Develop engineers in training.
  • Involved in the pre-planning, walk-through and working with sales department on estimating and quoting jobs.
  • Identify and assign individual job assignments of Power Systems Engineers.
  • Interface with the team & customer throughout jobs and attend customer meetings as requested or needed to provide job updates, progress status, and resolve issues.
  • Identify opportunities for expanded job scope and discuss with customer and Account Manager.
  • Participate in WIP for billing instructions and change orders.
  • Monitor job budget by reviewing each engineer's job time and material costs.
  • Review engineering reports and sign off for final issue.
  • Coordinate with field service for blended projects.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and at least 5 years relevant experience; prefer educational focus in Power Systems studies.
  • P.E. License in AZ highly preferred.
  • Experience in short-circuit, protective device coordination, arc-flash and power quality studies PREFFERED.
  • Must have experience using SKM, ETAP, ASPEN, EZPower, or other power system modeling software.
  • Must have knowledge of low, medium and high-voltage up to 500 kV.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate in English via verbal and written methods and be comfortable doing so directly to customers and co-workers.
  • Field experience with substations or switchgear highly desirable.
  • Utility design experience a plus.
  • Availability for occasional domestic travel.
