Job description

Industrial Engineer
Tempe, Arizona | Full-Time | On-Site
Build Better. Work Smarter. Make an Impact.
Are you the kind of engineer who walks onto a production floor and immediately starts thinking, "There has to be a better way to do this"?
We want to meet you.
Safe-Way Garage Doors and First United are looking for a hands-on Industrial Engineer to join our manufacturing operation in Tempe, Arizona. This is an opportunity to get out from behind the desk, work directly with production teams, and turn ideas into real improvements.
You'll analyze how we manufacture, move, and deliver our products-then help us make those processes safer, faster, more efficient, and more consistent.
If you love solving problems, improving processes, and seeing the results of your work come to life on the production floor, this could be your next move.
What You'll Do
As our Industrial Engineer, you'll be a key driver of continuous improvement throughout the operation. You'll:
  • Improve the Process: Evaluate manufacturing processes, workflows, equipment, and methods to identify opportunities for greater efficiency.
  • Eliminate Waste: Find bottlenecks, unnecessary steps, production losses, and other inefficiencies-and develop solutions.
  • Turn Ideas into Action: Develop and implement new manufacturing processes designed to improve productivity, profitability, safety, and quality.
  • Solve Real Production Problems: Identify potential issues, determine root causes, and work with the right stakeholders to implement solutions.
  • Use Data to Drive Decisions: Research processes, evaluate performance, identify trends, and recommend best practices.
  • Partner with the Floor: Work closely with engineering, production employees, supervisors, and other departments to keep quality products moving on schedule.
  • Champion Quality: Perform quality control activities, document findings, prepare reports, and recommend improvements.
  • Lead Change: Develop clear instructions and implementation plans so process improvements don't just look good on paper-they actually work.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for a problem-solver who combines technical knowledge with the ability to work effectively with people.
You'll stand out if you bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred
  • Previous experience as an Industrial Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Process Engineer, or similar role
  • Knowledge of manufacturing machinery, production processes, workflows, and quality standards
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to identify problems, dig into root causes, and develop practical solutions
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Confidence influencing teams and helping implement changes to established processes
  • Strong computer and technology skills
  • Familiarity with process engineering software and systems
  • Knowledge of applicable workplace health and safety requirements
The Kind of Person Who Will Thrive Here
You're curious. You ask why. You don't accept "because we've always done it that way" as the final answer.
You can analyze the numbers, but you're also comfortable putting on your safety glasses and walking the production floor to see what's really happening.
Most importantly, you know that great process improvement isn't just about engineering-it's about getting people on board and turning good ideas into sustainable results.
Your Work Environment
This is an on-site manufacturing role in Tempe, Arizona. You'll work in both office and production environments and should be comfortable spending time on the manufacturing floor.
You'll need to be able to move throughout the facility, collaborate directly with production teams, and work in both air-conditioned office areas and non-air-conditioned plant environments.
Why Join Safe-Way and First United?
We're in the business of manufacturing products people depend on every day-and we're always looking for ways to build them better.
In this role, you won't be sitting on the sidelines. You'll have the opportunity to influence how work gets done, improve the employee experience on the production floor, reduce waste, strengthen quality, and help shape the future of our manufacturing operation.
Ready to engineer a better way?
Apply today and bring your ideas, curiosity, and problem-solving skills to our Tempe manufacturing team.
Safe-Way Garage Doors is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We value diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive workplace for all employees. Reasonable accommodations may be provided to qualified individuals with disabilities in accordance with applicable law.
