The Engine Rebuild Technician/Mechanic is responsible for completing the disassembly and assembly of Caterpillar engines for repairs and/or complete overhaul utilizing reuse and salvage guidelines, in a manner that reflects the company's vision of working as "One Professional Team."
Pay: $29.11 - $50.00 per hour
2nd Shift: 2:00PM - 10:30PM + Shift Differential.
Pay is dependent upon education & experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES UNDER MINIMAL SUPERVISION
  • Uses safe working practices and follows all company safety requirements in preparing, inspecting, and rebuilding of components.
  • Completes disassembly and assembly of Caterpillar engines for repairs and/or complete overhaul.
  • Determines most cost-effective repair using Caterpillar reusability guidelines.
  • Inspection of parts for reuse and salvage, ability to develop complete and accurate repair quotes
  • Maintains clean organized work area to meet dealership contamination control requirements
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Additional opportunities to learn and rebuild transmissions, torque converters, final drives, wheel stations, differentials, fuel systems, cylinder heads, hydraulic cylinders, pumps, motors, hydraulic hammers, compactors, and other hydraulic attachments according to manufacturer specifications.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Provides direction, training, mentoring and guidance to assigned service technicians

Minimum Experience/Education Preferred:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Post-secondary education degree or certificate in diesel or automotive
  • Minimum 5 years in heavy equipment, engine rebuild and repair

Physical Demands & Competencies:
  • Standing, walking, talking, sitting, use of hands & hearing
  • Squatting/Kneeling
  • Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, etc.
  • Heavy work that includes carrying, lifting and/or moving objects up to 100 pounds or more
  • Data Entry, telephone, reading/writing, reasoning, organizational, communication & math skills
  • Safety & Product Knowledge
  • Basic ability to search for and enter data into a computer
  • Ability to type service reports
