Engine Rebuild Heavy Equipment Technician (Heavy Duty Mechanic) – Off Road HET (2nd or 3rd year apprentice or Journeyperson)

 

Sureway Construction is one of Alberta’s largest heavy construction contractors, involved in; civil earthworks and grading, utilities and offsite, mine operation and aggregate extraction.

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

Schedule: 10+ Hours per day (day shift), 5 & 2, OT after 8hr/day or 44hr/week

Location: Shop: 9175 – 14 Street NW, Edmonton, AB

Requirements:

  • Full Complement of Hand Tools
  • Personal Reliable Vehicle
  • CSA approved steel toed boots with 6” ankle support

Pre-employment:

  • Drug and alcohol testing which may be swab or urine depending on site requirements
  • Successful completion of Company Orientation and site-specific orientation
  • Fitness to Work Assessment

Engine Rebuild Heavy Equipment Technician (Heavy Duty Mechanic) Qualifications:

  • Must be a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) with Red Seal – Off Road or equivalent
  • Apprentices must be in good standing with AIT
  • Current 3rd Year HDM Apprentice
  • Must have between (5) and (10) years' HET Journeyperson experience
  • Off Road HDM experience is REQUIRED
  • Experience with CAT E.T. and S.I.S. and/or Komatsu components is REQUIRED
  • Experience with CAT Scrapers is Beneficial
  • Ability to read/troubleshoot and diagnose using hydraulic and electronic schematics
  • Exceptional organization and cleanliness skills are REQUIRED

Engine Rebuild Heavy Equipment Technician (Heavy Duty Mechanic) Responsibilities:

  • Rebuild Cat, Komatsu engines
  • Ensure equipment is maintained at the highest standards, in a timely manner
  • Conduct performance and quality checks according to procedure
  • Perform preventative maintenance, repair, and overhauls
  • Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture
