Job Summary
Are you the go-to person for end user support when systems need to stay up and running? As Alliant Energy continues to grow and invest in its technology environment, you will play a key role in supporting end users in a regulated setting where reliability and precision matter. You will take ownership of ServiceNow tickets, handling break/fix issues while managing imaging, provisioning, and endpoint support across user devices. You will work within structured change controls and compliance requirements, including SOX and NERC CIP, while coordinating patching, upgrades, and vulnerability remediation. You will also partner with infrastructure and business teams to maintain performance, support virtualized environments, and contribute to ongoing improvements. If you are hands-on, detail-oriented, and enjoy supporting end users in environments where your work directly impacts operations, we would like to connect.


What you will do

  • Assists with the design, evaluation, recommendation, building, and maintenance of medium to large computing services, storage environments, PC software structures, and network connectivity and writes specification documents for these systems.

  • Responds to support tickets and resolves technical issues escalated from the Help Desk within specified timeframes using troubleshooting tools and procedures to resolve issues and maintain defined service levels.

  • Identifies, plans, implements, and documents procedures for complying with Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) and North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection (NERC CIP) regulations.

  • Maintains disaster recovery plans and participates in disaster recovery drills.

  • Coordinates server, network, PC, and storage conversions, patches, and upgrades.

  • Coordinates system tuning to optimize system performance and maintains defined service levels.

  • Creates and maintains technical documentation related to hardware/software in client computing environment as well as training materials for end users.

  • Provides consulting, technical guidance, and information to applications development staff, computer operations staff, and other corporate employees.

  • Ensures systems are operating as designed, evaluates requests for changes to systems, provides routine system maintenance, documents system processes and procedures, suggest system improvements, and makes daily decisions involving direct application of technical knowledge of system issues.

  • Monitors, manages, and maintains hardware and software inventories.

  • Prepares requisitions and purchase orders and assists with compliance with government rules and regulations.

  • Engages in other duties as needed that support Alliant Energy's Values and helps deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.

Education Requirements

  • Associate Degree Emphasis in information technology or related area Preferred


Required Experience

  • 4 years of experience in progressively responsible PC support in a networked environment

  • Skilled administrative experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems and software, standard application packages, imaging software, profile migration techniques, client computing hardware, peripherals, and general PC troubleshooting and problem resolution.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated understanding of software application packaging and distribution tools, methods and techniques.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of network operating systems, LAN characteristics, network topologies, components, protocols and services such as TCP/IP, LDAP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, and routers.

  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to apply logical reasoning to situations and derive workable solutions for moderately complex problems.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead a project team to the successful conclusion of simple technology initiatives preferred.

  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

Pay Range:

$72,000-$93,000

This position is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
