Job description

Role: Senior Manager, Learning and Engagement
Reports to: Director of Learning and Engagement
Program: 9008-Learning
Department: Learning and Engagement
Location: Arlington Administration - 2116 Arlington Ave., Suite 100, Los Angeles, CA 90018
Setting: Not 100% Onsite
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
Status: Full-time/Exempt/Management

Summary:
The Learning and Employee Engagement Departments are managed by a central leadership team that is responsible for overseeing all functions of both departments. The Learning Department is responsible for all centralized staff learning and training including New Employee Orientation, People Leader Orientation, People Leader Academy and People Concern University. The Learning Department also coordinates all mandatory and compliance-related training. The Employee Engagement Department is responsible for three primary goals including employee experience, employee connection, and internal communications. This includes activities such as the coordination of agency-wide special events, agency-wide communications, and review of internal processes.
Under the supervision of the Director of Learning and Engagement, the Senior Manager, Learning and Engagement will lead the implementation of all activities of departments including ongoing and new opportunities and supervise the Learning Coordinator and the Employee Engagement Coordinator. The Manager, Learning and Engagement will have the opportunity to give strategic input into the future direction of the department, both initially and on an ongoing basis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Overarching Duties -
  • Oversees the day-to-day activities of the Learning Department and the Employee Engagement Department in coordination with the Director of Learning and Engagement.
  • Applies a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens to all department activities.
  • Oversees logistics for department activities and in-person events including venue procurement, transportation of supplies and equipment, set up/break down of venues.
  • Leads initiatives to increase understanding and commitment to the Expected Behaviors of all staff and People Leaders.
  • Oversees the Learning Coordinator and the Employee Engagement Coordinator.
  • Other duties as assigned and needed.

Learning Department Duties -
  • In coordination with the Director of Learning and Engagement, oversees and implements Learning functions such as content review, creation, and revision, evaluation, facilitator recruitment and support, and attendee management.
  • Fosters a culture of learning by championing Learning Department initiatives and collaborating across-agency in order to improve the onboarding process, agency culture, professional development and learning opportunities across departments and disciplines.

Employee Engagement Duties -
  • In coordination with the Director of Learning and Engagement, oversees and implements progress in the Employee Engagement pillars: systems maintenance and improvement, internal communication, and connection.
  • Leads annual engagement surveying, analysis, reporting, and work plan implementation.
  • Oversees all-staff engagement and integration events, including but are not limited to: monthly Town Hall by Call, People Co Con, Day in the Park, Contests
  • Fosters a culture of collaboration and access.
  • Oversees all internal communications in coordination with Director of Learning and Engagement, through Employee Engagement Coordinator, including copy writing, editing, branding, formatting, strategy.
  • Leads online platform utilization of SharePoint, Engage, Mailchimp, Snappy, and WorkTango.
  • Champions the professionalization of agency communications and materials.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Valid CA Driver's license, reliable car, auto insurance, and an acceptable driving record
  • Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and the ability to identify ways to incorporate it in employee engagement activities
  • Self-motivated and able to successfully work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively with a wide range of people, teams and vendors
  • Ability to think critically about problems and be creative in finding solutions
  • Strong communication skills, including written and oral
  • Advanced organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments
  • Detail oriented with excellent time management and communication skills
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Demonstrates an ability to use new technology to enhance the employee learning experience
  • Ability to operate media equipment such as projectors and personal computers

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Client-serving experience
  • Bilingual Spanish speaker

Work Environment:
  • Primarily indoor office environment
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend; occasionally lift or carry up to 15 lbs.
