Internal Communications Specialist

 Position Summary

The Internal Communications Specialist is responsible for developing, coordinating, and executing communication strategies that keep employees informed, engaged, and aligned with organizational goals and culture. This position serves as the primary administrator of internal communication channels, including the company e-Board, UKG Home Page, digital signage, newsletters, executive communications, and employee engagement campaigns.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Develop, write, edit, and distribute internal communications across multiple channels.
• Create and maintain an annual internal communications calendar.
• Ensure communications align with company branding, culture, values, and strategic objectives.
• Coordinate with Marketing to maintain branding consistency and communicate relevant organizational updates.
• Support executive communications, presentations, town halls, and organizational announcements.
• Serve as primary administrator of the company e-Board, UKG Home Page, and internal digital communication platforms.
• Edit, update, and maintain e-Board content to ensure information remains current, accurate, engaging, and relevant.
• Manage digital signage and internal video communications.
• Coordinate content submissions from departments and ensure timely publication.
• Promote employee engagement programs, recognition initiatives, wellness programs, and company events.
• Research, write, edit, and proofread communication materials.
• Develop employee stories highlighting achievements, milestones, safety initiatives, and community involvement.
• Measure communication effectiveness and recommend improvements.
• Assist with change management communications.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

Education: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. Experience may be considered in lieu of education.
Years of Experience Required: 3-5 years
Experience Required In: Internal communications, corporate communications, employee engagement, marketing communications, public relations, or related field. Experience managing intranet platforms, e-Boards, digital signage, and employee communication tools preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities

None. This position does not have direct supervisory responsibility.

• Strong editing, proofreading, and content development capabilities.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

FLSA Classification and Rationale

FLSA Status: Exempt
Rationale: This position qualifies for the Administrative Exemption under the Fair Labor Standards Act because it performs office and non-manual work directly related to management and general business operations and exercises discretion and independent judgment regarding internal communications, content strategy, employee engagement initiatives, and organizational communications planning.
