Do you want to lead communications that build trust, strengthen community connections, and showcase the people, projects, and progress that make Johns Creek exceptional? The City of Johns Creek is seeking an experienced, strategic, and creative Senior Communications Manager to lead our public communications efforts. This is more than a communications role-it's an opportunity to shape the voice of one of Georgia's premier communities. You'll lead high-impact storytelling initiatives, oversee the City's digital communications and public messaging, serve as a trusted communications advisor to City leadership, and help guide communications during both everyday operations and critical events.

What You'll Do
  • Lead the Cityโ€™s Communications Strategy: Develop and execute communication initiatives that build public trust, promote City priorities, and enhance Johns Creekโ€™s reputation.
  • Oversee Digital Communications: Manage the Cityโ€™s website, social media, e-newsletters, and multimedia content while ensuring a consistent brand and engaging user experience.
  • Serve as the Cityโ€™s Communications Leader: Act as the Cityโ€™s media liaison and spokesperson, manage media relations, and develop messaging for both routine and high-profile issues.
  • Guide Crisis Communications: Lead issues management and crisis communication planning, providing strategic communications support during emergencies and other critical events.
  • Partner Across the Organization: Collaborate with City leadership and departments to develop communication strategies, support public engagement, and tell the stories that matter most to our community.
  • Protect and Elevate the Cityโ€™s Brand: Oversee branding standards, publications, digital assets, and public outreach while ensuring consistent messaging across all communication channels.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Eight (8) years of experience developing and executing media relations and communications programs, including two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in dealing with confidential documents and issues.
  • Prior employment with a local city or county.
