Interns typically work with government agencies, non-profit organizations, or private companies to assist with disaster preparedness, response planning, risk assessment, and community outreach. The internship offers practical exposure to the procedures and protocols used during emergencies such as natural disasters, public health crises, or other hazards. It is an excellent way to gain valuable skills and insights into the profession, often serving as a stepping stone toward a full-time career in emergency management.

As an Emergency Management Intern, you can expect to assist with creating and updating emergency preparedness plans, participate in training exercises, and help coordinate community outreach efforts. Interns often support data analysis, research best practices, and collaborate with local agencies and first responders.
