Clearance Level

Personnel are required to possess a Final Secret, Interim Top Secret, or Final Top Secret clearance. However, all employees must be able to obtain a Top Secret clearance and sign a contingency agreement of employment with Acuity.


Primary Function
The Construction Manager will plan construction projects and oversee their progress along the way in a timely and cost-effective manner. The Construction Manager will be responsible for budgeting, organization, implementation and scheduling of the projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and direct construction projects from conception to completion
  • Review the project in-depth to schedule deliverables and estimate costs
  • Oversee all onsite and offsite constructions to monitor compliance with building and safety regulations
  • Coordinate and direct construction workers and subcontractors
  • Select tools, materials and equipment and track inventory
  • Meet contractual conditions of performance
  • Review the work progress on daily basis
  • Prepare internal and external reports pertaining to job status
  • Plan ahead to prevent problems and resolve any emerging ones
  • Negotiate terms of agreements, draft contracts and obtain permits and licenses
  • Analyses, manage and mitigate risks
  • Ensure quality construction standards and the use of proper construction techniques
  • Undertake other duties as assigned by the Project Director/COR.

Qualifications:

  • Required: Bachelor's degree from a ABET accredited university in the field of Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering or related field. If you are a certified Professional Engineer (PE), even better.
  • Must have (7) years' experience in construction project management with specific on-site construction experience across all phases of project delivery. Vertical construction experience is a huge plus.
  • Overseas experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Embassy construction program experience highly desired.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction management processes, means and methods.
  • Expert knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards.
  • Understanding of all facets of the construction process.
  • Familiarity with construction management software packages.
  • Ability to plan and see the "big picture".
  • Competent in conflict and crisis management.
  • Leadership and human resources management skills.
  • Strong organizational, communication and managerial skills, be self-motivated yet work effectively in teams and with senior management.
  • Active Secret clearance and must be able to obtain a Top Secret Clearance. If you already have an Active Top Secret clearance, we'll be able to put you to work right away.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Proven ability to work both collaboratively and autonomously
  • Strong initiative
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Must be able to work 60-hours/week, six days/week, 10 hours/day
  • Must have the ability to stand, sit, walk, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl, climb, bend, balance and twist for extended periods.
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 60 pounds on occasion.
  • Must be able to safely maneuver throughout the job site, i.e., climb and walk on scaffolding, climb ladders, walk up or down steep grades.
