Job description

Do you write for fun? Do you have an eye for copy cosmetics and email aesthetics? The Email Campaign Content Specialist loves writing and creating action-packed content that drives people to take important steps to join the HPU family, sign up for important events, engage with HPU content and more. You'll write, design, edit, submit for approval and finalize email sales copy and design elements for different audiences, including future students and parents. You'll manage the daily email calendars based on the flow of the academic year. You'll ensure the best timing, audience and elements are incorporated, and you'll review performance data to improve future messages. You'll deliver and finalize emails with CRM leaders in a timely manner. And you'll coordinate with other offices across campus to ensure exciting and accurate information is shared.

Qualifications:
Education
Bachelor's degree required

Experience and Training
Minimum 1 year of experience in strategic communication, journalism, marketing, public relations or similar field.

Knowledge, Skills, Ability:

  • Promotes and champions HPU on a daily basis through content, always prioritizing the university's goals
  • Strong knowledge of spelling, grammar, punctuation, copy editing and persuasive email writing required
  • Ability to write and edit promotional copy on a daily basis
  • Knowledge of sales and marketing concepts and implementation
  • Ability to write, edit, update and manage a large volume of email campaigns about High Point University and its many offerings
  • Ability to analyze and manage a strategic calendar based on events and deadlines
  • Ability to write engaging copy in multiple voices that reinforces the HPU brand
  • Ability to plan ahead, meet deadlines and organize work flow
  • Ability to balance multiple campaigns for multiple audiences
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word required
  • Proficiency in Canva required
  • Proficiency in Airtable preferred
  • Unmatched attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to perform under changing situations and quick deadlines

Essential Functions:

  • Updates existing library of email campaigns and distributes to campus leaders for editing
  • Generates fresh ideas, and writes and designs new campaigns
  • Creates email graphics and considers the overall user experience of the final product
  • Submits finalized emails for approval in a timely manner
  • Incorporates all received edits and finalizes emails in the daily calendar plan
  • Builds content for external and internal audiences, staying aware of appropriate audience segmentation and versioning.
  • Uses various CRM platforms and acts as back up for supervisor in sending internal email communications
  • Writes clearly, creatively and on a deadline
  • Continually evaluates the data for each campaign, such as open rate, clicks and other data markers; shares key findings and ways to improve with stakeholders in regular reports; implements any adjustments based on this data
  • Writes short text messages to complement some email campaigns
  • Creates new graphics and refreshes past graphics in a timely manner, primarily in Canva
  • Maintains positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating effectively with students, parents, faculty, co-workers and managers
  • Other duties as assigned

Accountability:

  • Ensures the University is positively represented in all content and deliverables
  • Ensures the content is current, accurate, on brand and engaging for all audiences
  • Ensures the university's policies for branding and voice are enforced
  • Ensures the CRM director receives finalized content in a timely manner
