Job description

Early Elementary Teacher
Saint Patrick Catholic School in Carleton Michigan is seeking qualified candidates for an Early Elementary teaching position. Prospective candidates must have a concentration of course work in the Early Elementary Education and should be capable of providing student instruction and managing the classroom, knowledge of the curriculum as well as developmental knowledge of this grade level. The prospective candidates must have a desire to facilitate the spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and social growth of students by providing students with a well-structured, nurturing environment.
All candidates shall be certified and/or approved for teaching by the Department of Education for the State of Michigan. All teachers are required to hold the appropriate endorsement for the subject(s) they are assigned to teach. All teachers who are catechist (teachers of religion) must be certified by the Department of Evangelization, Catechesis and Schools.
An ideal candidate should possess the following:
  • A love for Jesus Christ and desire to assist our students in encountering Jesus Christ in a life-changing way every day through daily prayer, devotions, Bible reading, memorization and in service to others.
  • Current teaching license and/or degree in elementary education
  • Must be willing to obtain Catechist Certification through the Archdiocese of Detroit
  • Must have completed or be willing to complete Protecting God's Children training
  • Must meet all requirements established by the Archdiocese of Detroit for employment
  • Must have a record of fingerprints on file or be fingerprinted
  • Must have the ability to work in a collaborative atmosphere with teachers, parents, and students
  • Must have the ability to maintain a safe and disciplined learning environment
  • Must submit lesson plans and curriculum maps on a weekly basis
  • Must have an understanding of or willingness to pursue an understanding of the Classical Liberal Arts approach to education.
