โ€ข Valid Pennsylvania Administrative Certificate (Principal K 12 or PK 12).
โ€ข Master's degree in educational administration or related field.
โ€ข Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience.

JOB GOAL
The Elementary Assistant Principal supports the Principals in managing the daily operations of the
elementary school to ensure a safe, orderly, and effective learning environment. The Assistant
Principal assists with student supervision and discipline, staff supervision, building operations,
compliance, and communication with families. The position would be rotated between three
elementary buildings providing support to each.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
RESPONSIBLE FOR:
โ€ข Direct - All professional, office and instruction support service staff assigned to building.
โ€ข Indirect - All maintenance and food service support service staff assigned to building.
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
โ€ข Support the elementary principal in planning, directing, supervising and assessing activities
that promote effective programs of study and student management that meet the needs of all
students while striving for maximum achievement.
โ€ข Assist in overseeing daily school operations, including arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, and
supervision of common areas.
โ€ข Support student discipline and behavior management in accordance with district policies and
the Pennsylvania School Code.
โ€ข Assist with attendance monitoring and student support services.
โ€ข Support safety procedures, emergency preparedness, and crisis response.
โ€ข Oversees and coordinates professional and support service staff so that an effective team is
established which works toward a unified goal of an effective program in a positive atmosphere
within a safe, attractive, physical plant.
โ€ข Facilitates positive parent/school/community relations through a variety of activities and
home/school communications.
โ€ข Supervises, observes and evaluates all professional and designated support service staff.
โ€ข Determines appropriate areas of responsibility to be delegated to professional and support
staff. Inherent in this is the need to maintain a continued, open line of communication that
keeps the principal and staff informed and abreast of all matters.
โ€ข Maintains accurate attendance records, files reports and works with the Business
Administrator for resolution of attendance problems.
SECONDARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
โ€ข Communicates with parents/teachers who have individual requests and needs.
โ€ข Assumes supervisory responsibilities (hall duty, class coverage, bus/lunch duty), as needed.
โ€ข Distributes supplies and equipment.
โ€ข Attends meetings at a district, building and grade level, as well as committee and parent
meetings.
โ€ข Reports and documents records and reports as well as verifies various forms (payroll,
absence, etc.).
โ€ข Develops monthly, weekly written communications.
โ€ข Understands and complies with Federal, state and local regulations governing the public
school entity.
โ€ข Coordinates after-school activities that enhance the school program.
โ€ข Develops a schedule, which enables students to meet state mandated subjects/programs.
โ€ข Performs other duties as may be assigned by the District Superintendent or his designee.
โ€ข Coordinates extracurricular activities that enhance the school program.
