Job Description: Elementary Assistant Principal (11-month)
Qualification: Initial or Professional School Building Leader Certification
Reports to: Elementary School Principal
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists in the general administration of the school and serves as the principal
when the principal is absent.
In charge of all support staff Prek-6 including human resources, schedules,
duties and evaluations
Supports the development of positive community interaction by working
cooperatively with school personnel, students, and families.
Assists with a variety of building programs, such as student-teacher programs,
school improvement programs, school safety, instructional programs, and
enrichment programs.
Manages and implements the Elementary School behavior policies and
restorative practices.
Collaborates with the Elementary Principal and grade level teams on the
placement of students.
Supervises team assist responses.
Monitors and implements the District's comprehensive student attendance policy
in conjunction with the Elementary Principal, Director of School Safety and
Security, and School Nurse.
Supervises arrival and departure procedures, and monitoring staff.
Supervises the lunchroom, and monitoring staff.
Assists the Elementary Principal with improving and coordinating instruction
through evaluation of faculty and staff, and participation in professional learning
communities.
Assist the Elementary Principal in planning faculty meetings, and professional
learning opportunities.
Serves as a member of the following teams:
โ€ข Shared Decision Making;
โ€ข Administrative Team;
์ด Pupil Personnel;
o Grade Chairpersons;
โ€ข District Safety; and
โ€ข Elementary/Junior High School Emergency Response.
Develops, in consultation with the Elementary School Principal, annually goals
for his/her performance.
Co-chairperson for Elementary 504 meetings under the direction of the Director
of Pupil Services assisting in self-contained PLCs.
Assist the Elementary Principal with planning, and administering New York State
testing.
Assists the Elementary Principal with construction of the Master Schedule.
Participates in Elementary School interview teams.
Attends Grade Level meetings on a regular basis, and upon request by the
Elementary Principal.
Order and maintain all curriculum workbooks yearly
Performs other duties as assigned by the Elementary School Principal
Desired Characteristics:
Maintains professional relationships with essential stakeholders.
Elementary level instructional experience is preferred, but not required.
Instructional Leadership:
Assist with ongoing curriculum development
Assist with RTI process using MTSS Dashboard
