Job description

IMEG is hiring an Electrical Project Designer in Anaheim, CA, to lead design efforts for low- to moderate-complexity building projects and collaborate with senior staff on larger, high-complexity work. In this role, you will work closely with engineers and consultants to provide engineering solutions and client guidance, with responsibility for analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems for buildings. You'll also help work within project budgets while training, mentoring, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.

Principal Responsibilities

Lead electrical system design efforts, creating detailed designs, specifications, and calculations in accordance with code requirements and IMEG standards
Partner with clients to understand project needs, gather requirements, communicate technical information, and maintain strong professional relationships
Support consulting project execution through planning, budgeting, and scheduling activities that keep work aligned with deadlines and objectives
Document design decisions and client instructions while monitoring project progress in relation to percent complete and fee expended
Analyze engineering challenges and collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical, efficient solutions
Perform in-process reviews of electrical designs, calculations, and specifications, and apply IMEG quality control processes to maintain design quality and compliance
Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, and contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG
Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work and identify potential risks associated with electrical systems
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated project solutions
Identify potential project issues, seek guidance from the Project Manager as needed, and support projects through bidding and construction administration

Required Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required
Engineering In Training (EIT) Certification preferred
3 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industry OR
Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering preferred
7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry
Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
Strong technical and analytical skills including knowledge of principles relating to circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems design for buildings
Proficient with industry standard engineering software and tools including lighting photometric calculation software such as AGI, Elum Tools, Visual Lighting, or other; power system analysis and design software such as SKM/PTW, Easy Power, or other; and proficiency in the use of BIM software and CTC Revit Add In Tools
Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards
Proficient with energy compliance software such as ComCheck; Adobe or Bluebeam Revu; the use of reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)
Proficiency in Smart Engineering Design Assist (SET) Tools within Revit for electrical calculations, coordination, properties, etc.
Knowledge of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS
Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays

State of California Salary Range: $95,000. - $120,000. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
