Job description

Overview:
A well-established California-based General Contractor is seeking a Project Manager with a strong background in commercial construction, specifically within the retail and restaurant sectors. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing ground-up, site work, and tenant improvement (TI) projects from preconstruction through closeout. This is an excellent opportunity to join a company that values flexibility, professional growth, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results on time and within budget. They have a California presence so have an ongoing clientele they are continuing to support with repeat business allowing them to have a well established backlog of awarded projects.


Primary Duties:

  • Oversee all phases of retail and restaurant construction projects, including new builds and tenant improvements

  • Perform estimating, take-offs, budgeting, and preconstruction planning

  • Secure subcontracts, materials, and vendor agreements

  • Collaborate with property owners, landlords, architects, engineers, and inspectors to ensure project alignment

  • Create and manage detailed project schedules to meet key milestones and deadlines

  • Lead and support field teams, ensuring quality control and timely progress

  • Maintain clear communication with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams

  • Prepare and submit weekly updates, RFIs, change orders, and payment documentation


Requirements:

  • A minimum of 4+ years serving in a Project Manager role managing Commercial projects

  • Experience in both Ground-up and Tenant Improvement projects
  • Restaurant and Retail project background is strongly preferred

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project; experience with Procore is highly desirable

  • Solid understanding of construction methods, codes, and safety practices

  • Ability to manage several projects concurrently with precision and accountability

  • Comfortable working closely with clients, municipalities, and regulatory officials throughout the construction lifecycle
