Job description

Eaton's ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking a Quality Manager based onsite at our Lincoln, IL manufacturing facility. Relocation assistance is available to candidates currently residing in the US.
This role manages the plant quality engineering team, responsible for product/process quality, post-sale field support, supplier quality and the Lincoln Quality Management System with the overall objective of providing optimum product quality and reliability at the most economical costs.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $130000 - $190000 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program. Please note the salary information shown is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
The Eaton plant in Lincoln, Illinois is a longstanding manufacturing facility within Eaton's Electrical Sector, with roots dating back to 1958 when Cutler Hammer first established operations in the area. Today, our site employs more than 6650 people across production, engineering, and support functions, and serves as a key hub for the company's residential and wiring devices business. Our facility produces a range of electrical components-including load centers, metering devices, and meter breakers, -as well as products supporting solar and backup power applications, supplying customers across the United States and internationally.
What you'll do:
  • Maintain favorable economic balance between quality costs and divisional profits ensuring that the manufactured product quality and reliability levels produce the best return on dollars invested in quality. Drive plant to achieve financial CONC goals
  • Implement quality culture and motivate people to perform and produce to the best of their ability with regard to quality.
  • Specify quality assurance equipment and methods used to evaluate parts and products in production and product problem analysis in defect evaluation.
  • Help drive problem solving culture. Train and lead problem solving activity using problem solving tools as it relates to reduction or elimination of problems.
  • Prepare and implement quality assurance, inspection and testing procedures ensuring control of product is maintained, using latest technologies.
  • Prepare the annual budget for the department and assist other departments in their budget preparation and focus on appropriate head count and capital expenditures.
  • Appraise employee performance and implement policy with respect to compensation. Develop employees through training and motivation.
  • Develop and execute annual quality objectives for the plant & department and reviews with key operations stakeholders, department personnel and manager periodically.
  • Lead quality support for New Product Introduction (NPI) & Value Add Value Engineering (VAVE) projects to help ensure customer requirements met, regulatory certification met and achieve acceptable level of quality for the plant products and suppliers.
  • Evaluate customer quality complaints and ensure appropriate corrective actions to both customer and Eaton Corporation developing the necessary documentation to support the quality control activities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with other related Eaton business partners, suppliers of private brand label and sourced products all of which are included as Lincoln sales and roll up into Lincoln external quality and CONC.
  • Assists in vendor quality capability audits recommending action to be taken to improve vendor quality or excluding vendor from preferred vendor list.
  • Direct special quality assurance projects to improve manufacturing processes and test performances. Communicate changes to all functions to make certain that proper reviews, such environmental health and safety, are conducted.
  • Oversee ISO 9001, Eaton Quality Management System (EQMS), and OpA (operational assessment), Q-LOR, LPA and processes to improve quality system and ensure appropriate certification status and continually improve process and systems.
  • Collaborates with division leaders and plant leadership at sister-site in Mexico to enhance quality processes, ensure alignment to Quality Management System standards, and sustain consistent, high-performing operations.

Qualifications:
Basic (required) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Seven (7) years of combined experience in quality, engineering and/or operations management within a manufacturing environment.
  • Two (2) years of experience directly leading people.
  • Three (3) years of experience with ISO 9001:2015 and UL standards and procedures, statistical process control (SPC), utilization and execution of a quality management system, and implementing structured problem-solving methodologies and tools.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong knowledge of Power BI, Advanced function in Microsoft Programs including excel.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical distribution products and markets.
  • Previous experience with collaborating with global quality teams.
  • Previous experience making improvements around Cost of Non-Conformance (CONC).
